DROP OVER | OPEN FLOOR ENCLOSURES
Built to your specifications.
CUSTOM OPEN FLOOR BUILDINGS
Drop-over Enclosures Custom Built to Specification are made to fit specific dimensions, shapes and features of equipment that they are intended to protect. Customization ensures an exact fit and optimal security. Enclosures are available in a variety of materials depending on the environment and level of protection needed. Metals, fiberglass or other durable materials that are resistant to weather and corrosion can be used.
These enclosures are designed to protect sensitive equipment against environmental factors like weather, dust, humidity, and even physical damage. These enclosures may offer insulation from temperature extremes. These enclosures are designed to be installed and removed easily. This feature can be useful for upgrades, maintenance or equipment relocation. Custom-built drop over enclosures can include ventilation, windows, or access doors depending on the enclosed equipment. These features are necessary for airflow, monitoring, and maintenance. These enclosures can be required to meet certain industry standards and regulations. This is especially true if they are housing equipment that must adhere to specific guidelines. The specifics of drop-over enclosures that are custom-built can vary greatly depending on the application, industry and equipment that they protect. NEMA Ratings:
The NEMA (National Electrical Manufacturers Association) rating system is widely used in North America. NEMA ratings provide a standardized way to describe the protection level an enclosure offers against environmental factors. The NEMA ratings range from 1 to 13, with each number corresponding to specific environmental protection characteristics. Some common NEMA ratings include::
NEMA 1: Indoor Use: Provides a basic level of protection against dust.
NEMA 2: Indoor Use: Similar to NEMA 1 but with additional protection against dripping and light splashing of liquids.
NEMA 3: Outdoor Use: Designed for outdoor use and provides protection against windblown dust, rain, and sleet.
NEMA 3R: Outdoor Use: Similar to NEMA 3 but intended for outdoor use and provides additional protection against ice formation.
NEMA 3S: Outdoor Use: Similar to NEMA 3 but designed to withstand external icing.
NEMA 4: Indoor/Outdoor Use: Provides protection against water splashing, hose-directed water, and windblown dust.
NEMA 4X: Indoor/Outdoor Use: Similar to NEMA 4 but also resistant to corrosion, making it suitable for harsh environments.
NEMA 5: Indoor Use: Designed for indoor use and provides protection against settling airborne dust, lint, and fibers.
NEMA 6: Indoor/Outdoor Use: Provides protection against the entry of water during temporary submersion.
NEMA 6P: Indoor/Outdoor Use: Similar to NEMA 6 but designed for prolonged submersion under specified conditions.
NEMA 7: Indoor Use: Provides protection against the entry of dust and prevents the ignition of explosive dust.
NEMA 9: Indoor Use: Designed to prevent the ignition of explosive dust and protect against intrusion by oil.
NEMA 10: Indoor Use: Designed for indoor use and provides protection against dripping and light splashing of liquids.
NEMA 12: Indoor Use: Provides protection against dust, dirt, and dripping non-corrosive liquids.
NEMA 13: Indoor Use: Similar to NEMA 12 but offers additional protection against the spraying of water, oil, and non-corrosive coolants.
IEC Enclosure Types:
The IEC system is an international standard for classifying the degree of protection provided by enclosures around electrical equipment. The IEC enclosure types are designated by an IP (Ingress Protection) code, consisting of two digits. The first digit indicates protection against solid objects, while the second digit indicates protection against liquids. Common IEC IP codes include::
IP54: Protection against dust (5) and water splashes from any direction (4).
IP65: Dust-tight (6) and protected against low-pressure water jets (5).
IP67: Dust-tight (6) and protected against immersion up to 1 meter in depth (7).
