Hugh’s Roots Run Deep In District 22
Born and raised in the heart of Senate District 22, where Iberia, St. Martin and Lafayette Parishes meet. He is the son of Celeste Fuselier Andre of St. Martinville and Charles Andre, Sr. of New Iberia.
Hugh truly lives by the philosophy of “simply doing what’s right” and helping others. His Uncle and Parrain, Charles August Fuselier was Sheriff of St. Martin Parish for 23 years which fuels Hugh’s desire for public service.
Hugh graduated Catholic High, then attended ULL and later graduated from Lamar University. He is a very devoted and involved father of three, Matthew, Izaac and Spencer.
Successful Businessman
Hugh is no stranger to hard work and doing what it takes to make any project successful. At 21 years old, Hugh began his first generation farming operation with 75 acres. HMC Farms has become one of the largest and most successful farming operations in Acadiana, now farming over 8,000 production acres including sugarcane, rice, crawfish and soybeans. He is a board member of Louisiana Agricultural Finance Authority.
As far as Hugh is concerned… failure is not an option and he WILL WIN for you in Baton Rouge.
Common Sense Leader
Hugh, along with a handful of area cane producers, spearheaded the restructuring of the Cajun Sugar Mill, revitalizing it to the profitable agribusiness it is today.
Hugh also takes great pride in turning around a failing golf course, making Cane Row Golf and Turf Club a centerpiece for golfers and sportsmen throughout the southern region.
Hugh’s common sense, successful approach to business continues to provide jobs and economic growth in our district.
“If You Want More of the Government You’ve Got, I’m Not Your Man.”
But if you want common sense leadership and winning business experience, I’m ready to work for you in Baton Rouge. Together, we can make this happen!
